Terms and Conditions

Agreement for the Hire of Equipment between Event Impressions Ltd Trading as Diy Events, hereafter known as The Owner, and The Hirer as follows:


  • Hire period is from the time equipment leaves the Owner’s possession.
  • No allowance can be made for time when equipment is not in use for any reason whatsoever.
  • A hire period is deemed 1 event, per day. You will receive the goods the day before the event and should pack them and send the goods back the next working day. In the event of Monday being a public holiday then the goods should be sent back on the Tuesday.
  • Late returns, that is failure to return goods within the contracted time period. Any period over three (3) working days and within one week will be charged at 50% of the total hire cost. Anything over and above this is charged at double the total hire cost per week.
  • The owner must be notified immediately of any late returns or changes to the hire of our goods.
  • It is the Hirers responsibility to ensure that the Courier picks up the equipment to ensure no late fees apply.
  • All items are subject to availability at time of confirmation.
  • Items are not confirmed until written confirmation is sent and payment is received.

Hire Charge and Payment Terms:
The Hirer shall pay to the Owner by way of hire charge as per the standard charge rates of the Owner. These rates are subject to change without prior notice. Payment terms are in full prior to equipment leaving the owner’s possessions unless otherwise arranged prior with the Owner.


  • The Hirer shall maintain the equipment in good working order during the period of hire and shall return the equipment, including manuals and accessories after use.
  • The Owner does not represent or warrant that the equipment supplied or its capacity or performance is fit for the purpose for which the hirer requires it.
  • While every endeavour is made to supply equipment as ordered, the Owner reserves the right to substitute other suitable equipment where necessary.
  • Where required the Hirer will be instructed in the correct use of the equipment. However the Hirer assumes responsibility for the correct use of the equipment whether instructed or not.
  • The Owner will not be responsible for any delays, accidents or loss or damage of any kind either directly, indirectly or consequently which may arise through defects or breakdowns of the equipment hired.

Proper Use:
The Hirer shall only use the equipment for the purpose and within the capacity limits of which it has been designed and will not attempt to alter, repair or modify the equipment.

The Owner will endeavour to supply equipment as ordered but will not accept responsibility for non-delivery, delay in delivery or inability to supply equipment when required.

Damaged or Faulty Equipment:

  • If the Hirer considers any equipment to be damaged or faulty when supplied they must notify the Owner immediately at time of delivery and the hire will cease from the time notification is received and the equipment is found to be damaged or faulty by the Owner. Failure to advise of damaged or faulty equipment at time of delivery, all hire charges will not be refunded and the assumption will be made that the damage was caused during your hire period.
  • The Owner will not accept any charges to fix any damaged or faulty equipment. The hirer should not attempt to fix or attempt to rectify any damaged or faulty equipment.
  • All lost or damaged items will be charged at replacement cost.  You will be notified via our damages and shortages report and have a seven (7) day period to settle your account. In relation to linen, should we be able to remove stains you will not be charged replacement costs however you may be liable for additional specialist cleaning costs.

Property Rights: All equipment remains the property of the Owner. The Hirer is responsible to keep the equipment in his own possession and control.

Sub-Hire of Equipment: Equipment must not be re-hired or loaned by the Hirer to a third party without the Owner’s consent.

Extension: If the hirer wishes to extend the period of hire, the Hirer shall request an extension of the hire period by telephone from the Owner at least one (1) day before the hire period expires. The Owner cannot guarantee an extension of the hire period, however every effort will be made to accommodate the Hirer’s requirements. Unless arrangements for the extension of the hire period have been made according to the terms of this agreement late charges will apply (30% of the total hire cost).

Return of Equipment: Any equipment or part thereof not returned by the due date will be charged to the Hirer’s credit card/account.

Repossession: The Owner may dismiss the hire and repossess the equipment at any time during the hire period without notice and without payment of compensation and for the purpose the Owner may enter personally or by his or her agents at any time upon any premises where the equipment may be kept.

Insurance: The Hirer must cover the cost of the equipment for any damage, loss or theft occurring during the hire period.

Hirer Liability:

  • The Hirer shall be liable to the Owner for any damages suffered by the Owner as a result of the breech of, or non-compliance to, any of the Terms and Conditions of the agreement by the Hirer.
  • Damage includes but is not limited to wax residue, cigarette burns, non removable stains and irreparable damages.

Owner Liability: The Owner accepts no liabilities whatsoever in respect of third party and similar risks or for personal injury or for consequential damage or loss.

Acknowledgement: The Hirer and any representatives from the Hirer who have taken possession of hire equipment are deemed to have read and understood the Terms and Conditions of this agreement.

Intellectual Property: The design and concept of all hired items and any concepts used and displayed by the owner, are the property of the owner, licensors or its partners and are protected by copyright, trademark and other laws. The Owner owns a copyright in the selection, coordination, arrangement and enhancement of such concepts. You also may not remove any copyright or other proprietary notices attached to any Hired items.

Cancellation Policy:

  • More than 14 days notice prior to hire will recieve a full refund of payments made, but will be charged a $45.00 administration fee.
  • Less than 14 days notice will recieve a refund of 1/2 (half) of the transaction value.
  • Any equipment not used by the Hirer during the hire period will not be eligible for a refund.
